ONE of Britain’s best-loved poets is heading to Carlisle to celebrate a summer of poetry and community.

Carol Ann Duffy, appointed Poet Laureate in 2009, is among the line-up of publishing company Picador’s Shore to Shore tour, in association of Bookends of Carlisle.

Duffy will perform alongside fellow poets: Gillian Clarke, Imtiaz Dharker and Jackie Kay at Carlisle Cathedral on June 28 – coinciding with and supporting the 10th anniversary of Independent Bookshop Week.

The Shore to Shore tour starts in Falmouth on June 16 and ends in St Andrews on July 2.

Carol Ann Duffy will perform in Picador’s Shore to Shore, in association with Bookends of Carlisle, at Carlisle Cathedral, on June 28.
