THE annual Tom Froggatt Memorial Rugby Match is back for 2016 to raise money for charity.

The Old St.Beghian XV will take on Egremont RUFC XV, on Wednesday December 28, to raise money for the Calvert Trust.

The match is being held in memory of Tom Froggatt – who passed away in 2015 after a long battle with a mystery degenerative brain disease.

This year his father and family friends have conducted a series of challenges to raise money in his memory.

These included taking on the Great North Run, on September 11 this year and completing ‘The Sunbeam’s Traverse’ challenge.

This challenge had a group cover a distance of 38 miles, 24 names peaks, including Helvellyn and Fairfield, on September 2 and 3 this year.

As well as a rugby match there is to be live entertainment, food, drink and family fun.

The organisers would like to raise as much money as possible for the Calvert Trust as the charity supported and helped Tom and his family when he got ill.

The Tom Froggatt Memorial Rugby Match will take place on Wednesday December 28 at Egremont Rugby Union Club.
