Community groups encouraged to apply for grants

ccflogoCOMMUNITY groups in Cumbria are being encouraged to apply for cash to help continue the great work they do in our region.

The grants, which come from the Sport Relief Community Cash Fund, will be for sums between £500 and £1,000 and are available through Cumbria Community Foundation.

Up to £10,000 of Community Cash money is available to small organisations that are helping local people living tough lives.

It can support projects such as food banks, counselling and advice services, sports clubs/activities, training, skills building and volunteering projects, community groups and set-up costs for new groups and support groups.

Annalee Holliday, Grants and Donor Services Officer at the Foundation, said: “Community Cash is a great way to get funding out into those communities in Cumbria that need it most. It’s a much needed boost to local groups and shows what a big difference a small grant can really make. Community Cash provides great opportunities to help not only existing community groups develop and grow, but also helps important new projects to get off the ground.”

Sport Relief funding is open on a one-off basis for 2016, and will close on Thursday February 25, so groups only have one week to apply.

Application forms are available via the Foundation’s website: or contact Annalee on 01900 825760 for further information.

As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to raise cash and change lives on Friday, March 18.
