Ten councillors split up and had a training sessions to before the match, on Sunday May 8.

Jacqui Smith, Cllr for Egremont Central, said: “We had a fantastic day and a lovely tea afterwards in the club house, put on by the lady’s from the club. Sam pollen come joint 1st with Marjorie Persival. I’d recommend giving it a go, I can’t wait for another game.”

The councillors played against the bowling club in an annual tradition that has been upheld – Betty Menzies, from Gosforth, explained that years ago the bowling club used to have a regular friendly against the police – however it is sad to say this is no longer the case.

But the bowling club are always looking and welcoming new members.
