MARCH sees the start of the monthly craft fairs being held in Gosforth public hall on the second Saturday of the month from 10am – 4pm.

These craft fairs are a spin-off from the Cleator Moor Craft Fair, which has now ceased. The stall-holders wanted a regular craft fair to view and sell their crafts, so set up this event in Gosforth.

Organiser Shirley Lawrence said: “This will be a good venue, with locals and tourists alike visiting the village. I want the local community to benefit from the craft fairs, so if any charity, school or organisation would like to supply refreshments, they can have the tables free of charge and keep any profit they make. There is a well equipped kitchen in the hall.”

Regular stall-holders include photographic pictures and pebble art, woodturning, wire jewellery, leather bags and purses, bows, pet portraits, cakes and many more. There are new stall-holders each month.
