Egremont Rugby Union travelled to Millom Rugby Union on Saturday February 27 still smarting from last week’s loss to Workington Zebras.

Millom looked to use home advantage as they opted to play with the breeze in the first half but Egremont made light of the elements and quickly settled into a pattern of confident and ambitious attacking play.

The first Egremont player to make an impact was the highly impressive flanker Chris Butler who appeared all over the field on his first recent outing for the club.

He crossed for two tries with barely a hand being laid on him.

This seemed to inspire the Bleach Green side as lively winger Cameron Moore crossed for a try and centre Josh Graves added his third conversion kick.

This gave Egremont a healthy lead of 21-3 at half time.

There was no respite for Millom when play resumed after the break as Cameron Moore completed a very impressive hat trick of tries with some powerful finishing following slick and confident Egremont back play.

This gave Egremont their sought after bonus point.

Millom scored a well taken try themselves which was no more than they deserved for remaining combative throughout the game.

The final try of the day went to Egremont.

It was the result of excellent team interplay between the backs and forwards which created space for full back Callum Aitken to cross in the corner.

The try went unconverted but a final score of 38-8 to Egremont was a fair reflection of the strength of their overall performance as they strive to keep the pressure on Workington Zebras at the top of the Cumbria League.
