At least 22 people were killed and a further 59 injured in the attack, in a bid to help, Egremont 2Day has organised a benefit gig, Copeland rocks 4 Manchester, at Florence Arts Centre, in Egremont, on Saturday (this weekend), June 24.

Egremont 2Day’s editor, Rachael Grealish, is behind the organisation of the concert, she said: “I saw a shout out by Rob Irvine, Manchester Evening News’ (MEN) editor in chief, for local papers, nationwide, to help raise money, I then had a member of the community come up to me and ask if we could help fundraise, shortly after the Manchester One Love concert was announced so I thought: why not do a benefit gig here, in Copeland?

“We have so much local talent and I know that we’re a community that always comes together to not only help one another but, we’re also one that’ll come together to help other communities need.

“I just hope we can get a lot of people there to support the evening and help raise money for all those people whose worlds changed completely and horrifically in one evening.”

Jolan, the Moor Row musician who shot to fame on The Voice, is set to take the stage of the benefit with his band.

He said: “I think this is a fantastic thing and I wanted to be a part of it and if I can help the cause with music, I’m there!”

With Jolan the audience can expect some great Prince tribute hits along with a range of originals, including his recently released EP, Parallel.

Other acts lined up for the event include: The Rogues and  Lee Adams, Tom Salmon, Zoe Warren and Luke Yates.

All the money raised from the gig will be going to the crowdfunding page, set up by the MEN in partnership with the British Red Cross, and it is assured that every penny raised will go raised to the families of those affected by the terrible attack.

Copeland Rocks 4 Manchester will take place on Saturday,  June 24, at Florence Arts Centre, at 7pm.

Tickets for the benefit gig are £5 each and available from Florence Arts Centre or via contacting Egremont 2Day: or
