Egremont’s Richard Lee Made High Sheriff

REVD Richard Lee of St Mary’s and St Michael’s Church has been installed as the new High Sheriff of Cumbria.

The appointment was made at Crown Court, Carlisle and it is the first time this historic role has gone to a serving rector.

He took over from Sam Rayner. Mr Rayner congratulated the new High Sheriff on taking office and wished him well for his forthcoming Shrieval year.

He also thanked his Under Sheriffs, Tim Cartmell for Cumberland and Anthony Fitch for Westmorland and was also full of praise for his Chaplain Reverend Glynn Jones who had supported him so well throughout the year.

Revd Lee said he hoped to use his year in the office as a way to explore the good work of the county’s voluntary sector.
