THE ever popular Ennerdale show takes place at The Leaps, Ennerdale, on Wednesday, August 31.

The famous agricultural date is popular with ‘townies’ too as it shows off the best that the local countryside and farming industry has to offer.

This year’s event will mark 109 years of the event and will include the usual show of sheep, cattle, horses and other animals.

Traditional sports are a big feature of this show, with its wonderful location. There will be fell races and, hopefully, an appearance by fell running legend Joss Naylor.

There will also be hound trailing, with bookies on hand to take your money – and hopefully give some of it back!

Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling will also be taking place.

Another popular attraction at the show is the industrial tent and produce tent, which shows off the local talents of the people in the Ennerdale area.

And watch out for a display of vintage vehicles and tractors.

President of the show this year is Carl Sanders and the main sponsor is car dealer Myers and Bowman. The show is signposted from main roads.
