Les Coan reports on some exciting workshops that took place at Florence Arts Centre, Egremont, as part of C-Art.

Florence Arts Centre at Egremont was recently a centre for the annual C-Art festival.

There was not only a lovely exhibition to see, but also various art workshops, run by a variety of artists.

I attended five of these workshops, which were free (donations given!) and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. It gave me the opportunity to further develop my observational skills and to try a wide variety of materials to work with – even weaving willow stars.

The classes catered for all age groups. On one day we helped children from Thornhill School make moving models, under the guidance of St Bees artist, Chris Robson.

These workshops were free, very well run in a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere – keep your eyes open for more things in the future at Florence.
