TV PRESENTER Ellie Harrison filmed E2D writer Alan Cleaver at the end of last year for a show – Secret Britain – heading to our screens at the end of the month.

The programme, to be shown on BBC2 on Wednesday March 30 at 7pm, features Alan’s work on West Cumbrian lonnings.

Alan said: “The researchers were very excited about the lonnings (country lanes) and spent a day filming me walking mainly along Low Lonning, near Gosforth. They loved the wonderful stone bridge across the River Bleng, the shaded lanes, the wildlfe – and then the stunning views from the lonning across to the Wasdale screes. They also seemed to love the wonderful names of the lonnings – Squeezed Gut Lonning, Primrose Lonning, Dog Lonning, Sawdust Lonning and the like.”

Fortunately it was one of the few beautiful and dry days when the crew filmed. They will also be screening some of the other ‘secret’ parts of the Lake District during the show.

The show is the start of a second series produced by the famous BBC Bristol unit. Other programmes in the series will feature Kent, Devon and Northern Ireland.
