Fans of all ages travelled from across Cumbria and beyond to browse a range of stalls, play games and meet other like-minded people, on Saturday, February 17.

Janice Edgar and her daughter Catherine travelled to Carlisle from Whitehaven to be part of the Megacon excitement.

Janice – who dressed as the Woman in Black – said: “This is my second year of doing this and I really enjoy it – I seem to get quite an interesting reaction.”

She wasn’t wrong – many people commented on the scarily accurate portrayal of the Woman in Black.

Cosplay fancy dress competitions, the world’s nerdiest quiz and gaming tournaments, including Pokemon, Tekken and Bloodbowl, were among the highlights of the event.

More than 40 people took part in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournament to be in for a chance to win a place in the European championships.

If gaming and cosplay wasn’t your thing there was also a raffle, pin the tail on the unicorn and a real-life Mario Kart racing competition.

The event was filled with stalls featuring art work and collectable’s.

Carlisle artist, Kira Kilgour, AKA Ashyelf, not only held a stall selling peices of her artwork and doing onthe-day commissions, but dressed as the Disney character Judy Hopps.

The February event was the first of two installments – with the second taking place in August.
