The second annual Cleator Moor Christmas Light Switch on was hailed a success as hundreds gathered in the town for the main event, at Cleator Moor Civic hall on Friday November 25.

BBC’s The Voice runner-up, Jolan, did the honours and switched-on the lights with Bread and Butter Theatre’s Holly and Ivy not far behind.

Jolan said: “It’s really nice to even be asked to switch the lights on here as well as Whitehaven – I’m really a local lad and like to be able to do things in the community.”

The event, organised in partnership with Cleator Moor Town Council, Cleator Moor Town Team and the Cleator Moor Freemasons, was hailed a success by the organisers as hundreds packed in civic hall for the Christmas fair.

Dave Farrell, organiser, said: “Last year proved to be more successful than we expected and we really wanted to get it bigger and better this year – and I think we’ve really managed that, it’s just brilliant to see everyone here enjoying themselves –  I really have to thank everyone who helped make it all happen.”

Along with plenty of local products available to buy on the stalls, fair goers were entertained with Christmas carols played by Cleator Moor Brass Band.

The event was hailed a success by organisers who are aiming for even more for next year.
