STALWARTS of the northern blues scene, The Lol Goodman Band will be heading to Egremont next month.

With 20 years experience and a new album out, the Manchester rock and blues band are making their return to Florence Arts Centre, on Friday September 23, to recall the best of the 1960’s and 70’s.

This will be the band’s second performance in Egremont this year, after playing there in May.

The five-piece band have also made several appearances at Maryport Blues Festival and at The Kings Head in Carlisle.

The band will be playing tracks from their two critically-acclaimed albums; Old Dogs ‘n’ Licks, and Tautology, some new material from their latest album of contemporary blues/rock, Just Wanna Say… along with some classic covers.

They line up with James Horrocks on bass guitar, John Firth on drums, Dave Turnbull on sax, Phil Barrett on keyboards and guitar, and, of course, Lol Goodman, himself, on guitar and lead vocals.

John Firth said: “We are really pleased to have been asked to return to Florence Arts Centre, Egremont especially after having received such a great response from the audience on our first visit. Since the band’s first appearance in Egremont we have signed a record deal with Right Track Records.”

Lol has performed consistently in various bands and line-ups for more than four decades, including a 15-year spell working alongside James Horrocks where they have remained loyal to their blues rock roots.

Support on the night will be provided by up-and-coming Whitehaven band, The Northern Threads, making their Florence debut with some indie and rock ‘n’ roll.

The Lol Goodman Band will be taking to the stage at Florence Arts Centre, in Egremont, on Friday September 23. Tickets are available from www.florencemine.com.
