The fundraising weekend is set to take place over the weekend of October 21 and 22 and is expected to see guests from all over the world in support of the charity that has raised thousands of pounds for local children.

As usual the weekend will kick off with the welcome meal and gig at the Seacote Hotel, St Bees, on Friday 21, but the usual walk around Ennerdale on the Saturday morning is to be replaced with a new route for 2016.

This year the walkers will do the four mile route around Loweswater starting at 10am for the annual ‘Joy in the Rain’ walk.

The walk will once again be in memory of the Egremont 2Day’s late editor, Peter Watson.

CKDCF organisers said: “The terrain of our new 6km route is much easier to navigate than that of our Ennerdale walk.

“As well as offering a change of scenery, this ensures that our walk is accessible to more people and also reduces the risk of injury.”
