LAMPLUGH and District Heritage Society heard a fascinating talk on Herdwick Sheep from Will Rawlings at their last meeting.

Will Rawling MBE is of course a well known local farmer but also chairman of the Herdwick Sheep Breeders Association and a passionate advocate of the breed. Will’s talk to the LDHS was both entertaining and informative, and showed the breed is held in as high regard by their farmers and breeders as it is by lovers of Lakeland.

Next up is former Guardian writer David Ward, who will share stories from behind the scenes at Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake. His talk is on Thursday, October 22 at 7.30pm.

And on Thursday, November 26 the meeting will hear about “Mining in the Lamplugh Area” by Mervyn Dodd. Again, it starts at 7.30pm.
