FRANCIS Dunnery is back once again for the 13th annual CKDCF (Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children’s Fund) benefit concert and this year they’ll be celebrating the memory of the late Peter Watson.

The fundraising weekend is set to take place over the weekend of October 23 and 24 and is expected to see guests from all over the world in support of the charity that has raised thousands of pounds for local children.

Friday will kick of the weekend with the welcome party at Seacote hotel, then the main event will take place on Saturday with the annual sponsored walk around Ennerdale having been renamed the Peter Watson Joy in the rain walk, in memory of the Egremont 2Day founder, who had been supporting the charity from the beginning and sadly died in December 2014.

Mr Dunnery said: “Peter Watson devoted himself to our community and the welfare of those in the area. He was a selfless individual who did it for the right reasons. He was a good man and I am profoundly grateful to have known him.  Peter Watson is a true hero, we should all be grateful that we got to spend a little time with him while he was here.”

The group will be having one minute rapturous applause in celebration of Peter’s life before the six mile walk that Peter would venture each year. Mr Dunnery, who is president of the charity, will be performing as part of the Francis and friends concert on the Saturday evening at Egremont Market Hall.

Mark Andrews, CKDCF trustee and treasurer said “It’s a chilled-out, feel-good weekend, making money for the CKDCF and Francis’s fans love meeting up with him.”
