MUNCASTER castle is set to go on a journey back to the 90s as the Picnic Cinema returns to West Cumbria.

Films billed for the weekend are: Pulp Fiction (18), on Friday, August 11, and Boogie Nights (18), on Saturday, August 12.

As usual fancy dress is encouraged – so for the Quentin Tarantino 1994 cult classic, Pulp Fiction, think black shoes, black ties, white shirts and blood splatters. For Paul Anderson’s 1998 hit, Boogie Nights, Bring your flares, knee high boots, roller skates, swimsuits and inflatables.

Organised by Eden Arts, this is the fourth year Picnic Cinema has descended on Muncaster.

Organisers said: “Eden Arts is all about bringing art, cultural activities and events to rural communities. “Our Picnic Cinema offers a really fun and sociable way of engaging people across Cumbria and it’s right on trend with the popularity of today’s festival and events scene.

“The success of Picnic Cinema has been outstanding – we have people flying in from as far as Los Angeles just to be a part of the experience.

“We have a great relationship with the Muncaster Castle staff and the Pennington family and they take no persuading when it comes to the fancy dress opportunities for our films.

“We are very lucky to be able to work with Muncaster and our cult, horror movie screenings set to a backdrop of this stunning castle, are what really makes these events special.”

Eden Arts Picnic Cinema will be setting up camp at Muncaster Castle on August 11 and 12.
