Quint Starkie takes solo tour to Egremont

By Rachael Grealish

QUINT Starkie is making his Florence Arts Centre debut after years of performing with Francis Dunnery.

Starkie is set to bring his UK tour to West Cumbria, with an Egremont performance, this Saturday (May 19).

The story-telling songwriter, is a veteran when it comes to performing for an Egremont audience – due to his friendship and work with former It Bites frontman, and Egremont-born, Francis Dunnery and performing at the CKDCF charity weekend’s.

Starkie said: “I really can’t wait for the gig. It feels fantastic, to be heading back to Egremont.”
Since the October CKDCF weekend Quint has worked with Francis Dunnery and released his new album.

He said: “I’m so grateful for everything that has happened since I released the album.”
The performance will include songs from Starkie’s new album and, as always, the songs he performs will tell the story of his life.

Starkie explained: “My songs will take you from where I come from: originating from Accrington, then moving to Hollywood where I met a beautiful Swedish Countess who took me back to Sweden with her, became my wife and the mother of my two boys.”

Even though he has played all over the world, Starkie says the Egremont is still one of his favourite places to perform..

He said: “I’ve played venues as wide ranging as Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood – but my most memorable was supporting Francis Dunnery at Egremont Market Hall.”

Starkie is currently working on a new album with Francis, working from Stockholm with some more pop beats to his music.

Even though Francis won’t be at the gig, another Dunnery is set to show some support as Danny Dunnery’s band, Goosey Tyson, are supporting Starkie on the evening.

Danny Dunnery is the great-nephew Francis and son of John Dunnery from the duo John and Wayne.
Quint Starkie will be performing at Florence Arts Centre, in Egremont on Saturday, May 19, at 7pm.

Tickets are available from the venue box office and some will be available on the night.
