The Sellafield branch of Unite Union meet with the Naked in the Lakes Calendar Girls and Jo Bell to show support to the cause with a £500 donation.

SALES of the Naked in the Lakes calendar continue to raise money for the Give Us A Break charity – and now the calendar has a new sponsor.

The calendar was the brain child of Egremont’s Jo Bell who photographed some brave naked women in Ennerdale – all very discretely done, of course.

Just before Christmas, they met the new sponsor at Florence Arts Centre.

The Sellafield branch of the Unite union presented a cheque to Jo.

Handing over the cheque was secretary Ryan Armstrong who was joined by union treasurer Jimmy Cassidy.

Ryan works for Balfour Beatty as an electrician and Jimmy Cassidy as a plumber for Mitie 1FM.

Sellafield Construction Branch of Unite have supported local boxing clubs including Cleator Moor and Workington Town boys as well as Celtic football club, Cleator Moor, and are active in supporting local events for children and the elderly.

They have supported the recent Flood Appeal with donations of 30 bags of equipment and cleaning materials during the clean up operation, which were delivered to Penrith via Brownriggs transport.

Jo said: “It was a privilege to meet such genuine warm-hearted local guys, striving to put money back into the local community through these local groups, where money is much needed to buy equipment and keep these clubs alive.”

The donation will cover more of the printing costs for the calendar. To date the Calendar girls have sold 120 calendars.

Tony Roberts Carpets has also purchased 10 calendars and will be another sponsor for 2017.
