Theatre By The Lake named North West’s most welcoming

KESWICK’s Theatre by the Lake has won the award for ‘Most Welcoming Theatre in the North West’ for the fourth consecutive year.

The theatre is one of 12 regional winners with the overall winner to be announced at UK Theatre Awards 2017 on Sunday, October 15.

Over 200 theatres competed for the coveted award which is voted for by the public and is an opportunity for audiences to celebrate their local theatre.

Julian Bird, Chief Executive of UK Theatre, said: Theatres play a vital role in communities across the UK, so it has been wonderful to see so many votes cast.

“This campaign brings together audiences, theatres, performers and producers and gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate their local venue.”

The annual UK Theatre Awards take place at London’s historic Guildhall. This year’s nominations demonstrate the breadth and depth of talent and achievement in theatre and the performing arts throughout the United Kingdom, on and off stage.

Conrad Lynch, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of TBTL said: “We’re really thrilled to have received this award for the fourth year running.

“Thank you so much to everyone who voted for us; the support we get from our audiences is amazing and we are incredibly grateful.

“We’re also very grateful to our volunteers for all their hard work and dedication. This award is testament to the warm welcome that they and our front of house staff offer to everyone who comes through our doors, and to the hard work that all the staff here put into making this theatre such a special place.”

Egremont 2Day have long supported the excellent productions at Keswick’s theatre and it comes as no surprise to us that TBTL has won the award yet again.

We wish ‘break a leg’ to all at the theatre for nation-wide awards.
