This year over 79 venues and 110 artists, designers and independent galleries opened their doors to the public.

In West Cumbria, Florence Arts Centre was a gallery hub and hosted a new exhibition of work from nine local artists using natural materials.

The Ground 3 show opened on Saturday September 10 and ran until Sunday September 25. This year’s artists were Phil Bradley, Mark Gibbs, Rachel Gibson, Carolyn Marr, Jenni Payne, Irene Sanderson, Angela Strange, Richard Wood and Tim Wood.

To complement the exhibition a fortnight of free workshops including willow weaving, making pastels using the Egremont Red pigment from Florence Mine and felting, working with ink, wax and stencils.

There was also an opportunity to fire your own pot using Japanese raku techniques, when Miles-Moore Ceramics hosted a free demonstration of the process on September 15.
