Tour de Moor celebration moves up a gear

THE Tour de Moor cycling festival based on Cleator Moor has proved so successful that this year’s event has been expanded._DSC9008

Further rides have been added including a time trial on September 14, a Go Cross on September 15 and Ladies night on September 16.

Events start and fnishing in Cleator Moor with the ladies night starting at 6pm and ending with puddings and Prosecco at Cleator Moor Civic Hall.

On Saturday, September 17 there will be a Cleator X MTB Challenge which makes use of fire road, single tracks and trails within the Lowther and Uldale Forests on the edge of the Lake District. There will be refreshments and the start and finish; entry is £10.

On Sunday, September 18 there is a Tour de Moor Sportive starting and finishing on Cleator Moor Square with three different laps of the town covering a distance of 32 miles.

The route crosses through the town square and takes place over predominantly minor country roads and contains some short but steep climbs.

Riders have the option to finish after the first lap a distance of approximately 21 miles. Refreshments are provided at the start and finish
